| I-693 - Immigration Medical Examination |
The U.S. residency application procedure, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) all require a medical examination. An immigration medical exam includes a thorough medical examination by a qualified civil surgeon of the USCIS. It also includes the following:
- This requires a Quantiferon TB Gold blood test. It usually takes 2-3 days to receive results. A chest x-ray will be required if the exam results come back positive.
OR
- Tuberculin (TB) skin test and interpretation.
- You are required to come back to the medical center 2 days after your skin test has been applied for interpretation.
- If you experience a reaction of more than 5mm, a skin test is considered "positive". If your test results come back “positive”, a chest x-ray will be required. If you have received a positive TB skin test or if you have had BCG vaccine, we will talk about the next step.
- A syphilis blood test.
- Immunizations including: Varicella, MMR (measles, rubella, mumps), Pertussis (Tdap) and Tetanus Diphtheria.
